We are looking for a Category Manager for our Consumer Goods Business Unit in the Netherlands. Some of our leading brands are Edet, Tempo, Tena, Libresse, Demak’Up and Plenty.
You will be part of the Customer Marketing team, consisting of two Category Managers, a Shopper marketer, a consumer contact officer and an E-commerce trainee. As Category Manager you will report to the Customer Marketing Manager CG Netherlands
You are responsible for developing category plans and implementing category management strategies to generate growth. You are acting as the interface between Sales and Marketing and participate in multifunctional teams.
The tasks are divided in 3 key areas;
Category management; Develop and lead Category Management activities to win in prioritized channels with the key customers. Drive the category management way of working to deliver growth for the customer and Essity. This includes category vision implementation where you, together with Sales and the Retailer, translate the vision, customer category insights, the customer strategy and the Essity brand strategy into a strategy and activation plan. You build and manage a solid relationship with the customer (together with Sales). You give input to pricing strategy (consumer prices) and the promotion strategy, assortment and shelf advice (Planogramming).
Operational brand teams; Together with Marketing, Sales and Logistics you are the operational brand team for the brands in your category. The team is responsible for the development of the operational brand strategy and business plan for the coming year. You follow up on the KPI’s and come up with action plans to reach all the goals in the current year. Next to that, proactively bring new insights into the team that are relevant for the development and action plan of the brand.
Project management; Participate in and/or lead projects for the brands that fall in your category. For example, the introduction of NPD’s. You are also responsible for successful launches of these NPD’s at customers (via tradekit/sales presentations)
- University Business Degree or similar education
- 2-3 years of experience in Category Management, Customer Marketing, Marketing, Sales or similar role
- Ideally experience in building shelf layouts (with the software Spaceman)
- Customer facing experience is an advantage: grocery or drug retailer or pharmacy chain
- Experience in interpreting retail panel, consumer panel and POS data (mainly Nielsen & GfK)
- You are Customer, shopper and consumer driven, proactive and always looking for opportunities to improve and grow the business
- Excellent analytical skills, creative, can think outside of the box and communicate effectively
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
