We are looking for a Chemicals Buyer, Innovation and Value Creation Business Partner to join our procurement team, reporting into Director Chemicals & Fragrances with a dotted reporting line to the Sr. Manager of Chemical Commodities.

The role’s purpose is to lead all innovation, new product development, reformulation and sustainability projects for the whole Chemicals portfolio, making sure to execute Coty’s Chemical sourcing strategies, developed by the Global Category Leaders (GCLs).

The position is expected to be the main driver of the categories’ strategies, making sure R&D is working with mainly core suppliers and respecting the Golden Rules in terms of new vendor creation and business continuity plan. At the same time, this person will be able to retro-feed the GCLs with any unmatched needs of the business, so they can adapt their strategies. In other words, the position is expected to work in close cooperation with a broad group of Coty business stakeholders, for instance R&D, Initiative Management, Planning, Procurement Sustainability, Finance, and, of course, the Chemicals GCLs.

The buyer will be responsible for providing all required Procurement information for new projects and making sure capacity is secured / contracted with suppliers by the time the project starts. Furthermore, the position is expected to be the main point of contact in the team when it comes to innovation / new suppliers / new technologies.

Lastly, as this is a role within the Category team, the buyer will be globally responsible for the following categories: General Chemicals, Waxes & Clays, and Preservative AND provide regional support for AMAPAC distributed materials.


  • Acquire broad understanding of the processes, procedures and systems and use that knowledge to improve efficiency and produce high quality work on problems with cross functional impact.
  • Be the chemicals team lead to harmonize IT systems, raw material codes, and specifications across the company.
  • Contribute to and deliver short-, medium- & long-term category and sourcing strategy to ensure best TCO for Coty.
  • Collaborate with R&D and GCL’s to review potential alternate supplier qualifications.
  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management program and drive YoY Improvement and sustainability agenda.
  • Collaborate with PMO Director & GID team by owning the following for the chemicals team:
  • Help to create, track, and implement cost savings opportunities that generate significant value creation and savings for the business.
  • Ensure savings projects in the US factories are delivering as expected. If off track, work with the sites to create a variance report.
  • Partner with the R&D associates and leaders to:
    • understand the key upcoming launches or blue sky projects that are taking place over the next 3 – 5 years (mid-long term).
    • select Global/Regional Preferred/Core vendor lists for our factories.
    • host upstream meetings between R&D & core suppliers as part of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.

As a Category lead for General Chemicals, Waxes & Clays, Preservatives and AMAPAC Distributors:

  • Support and in some cases lead crisis resolution for raw materials used at internal manufacturing sites as well as when properly escalated third party manufacturers.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities in order to maintain a full pipeline for your portfolio.
  • Assist factories with resolving any urgent issues in order to avoid any supply chain disruptions.
  • Know/Learn the key suppliers within the industry, understand their raw material portfolio, capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
    Implement Chemicals Contracts.


Profile and education:

  • 3 to 5 years of procurement experience, notably in Commodities & Specialty Chemicals procurement;
  • Meaningful experience in FMCG/Beauty Industry environment;
  • Experience in working in an international environment and matrix organization;
  • Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or Chemistry Degree qualified;
  • Previous experience as project manager and/or chemist is an additional asset;
  • High degree of fluency of English is required.
