APM Terminals is currently on a journey to decarbonize our operations and ensure we are consuming only renewable energy from 2025. The energy transition is central to APMT’s growth and sustainability ambitions and presents amazing opportunities to be involved in the process. We are looking for the right candidate to help put these plans into action, translating our decarbonisation requirements into sourcing strategies and developing renewable energy solutions for our terminals.
As a Renewable Energy Category Manager at APMT, you will help bridge the company’s scope 2 decarbonisation goals with global renewable energy markets, finding solutions that will both support our ambitions and drive financial benefits for the company. You will focus on the locations critical to our decarbonisation plans and help create solutions even where they might not be readily available today.
You will be responsible for the entire renewable energy sourcing process in critical-path APMT markets. From assessing opportunities to negotiating contracts for Purchase Power Agreements and other solutions, you will play a key role in the entire process. You will be able to leverage Maersk & APMT’s global presence, demand, and processes to secure solutions that will support this critical transformation.
Due to substantial business travel this position can be executed remotely, although our preference would be the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support/lead projects focused on developing and securing long term agreements to supply our terminals with renewable electricity
- Act as a link between our decarbonisation plans/requirements and sourcing strategies to deliver on the envisioned solutions
- Manage the internal & external stakeholder landscape to ensure complex, and often conflicting, goals are delivered
- Negotiate renewable power purchase agreements and ensure their impact is well understood at all levels of the organization
Who we are looking for:
It is crucial that you have the right experience and key analytical and interpersonal skills to help drive progress on our ambitious decarbonisation plans. You need to be able to execute projects from our HQ through strong engagement with local, terminal level, stakeholders and suppliers.
Ideally, you also have:
- Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance or another related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement of energy, including development of renewable energy strategies and solutions such as PPAs
- Experience with management of a diverse renewable energy portfolio structure
- Proven track record of negotiation skills with the capability to structure and negotiate agreements that will support our decarbonisation and financial goals
- Demonstrated experience with virtual and/or physical PPAs, especially in developing markets
- Capability to run multiple projects simultaneously in different countries
