The role of Group Procurement Category Expert Specialist is a creative, (socially) intelligent and curious person who understands data requirements, has demonstrated practical knowledge and expertise in applying statistical models and querying tools to analyze, enrich and validate data from a variety of data sources and platforms in order to deliver tangible results aligned to our business objectives and success, has run small procurement/sourcing initiatives. The position has an international character. The position acts as a liaison between internal customers, different functional groups, different suppliers, procurement buying co-operations and different geographies.
The candidate is expected to be a subject matter expert in data extraction, transformation, enrichment, and analytics as well as been able to run smaller procurement/sourcing activities for a specific Group Category.
The candidate is willing to travel frequently within Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland), mostly one- to two-day trips.
Purpose of the Role
As part of the Procurement team and reporting to the Group SVP Procurement, this position will be responsible for:
- Developing performance and support analytics for procurement programs and projects at European level
- Extract, transform and analyze data from multiple sources to support Category/Product Management (CM), Sourcing, Fact Based
- Negotiations, pricing and assortment related initiatives
- Maintain and support implementation, as well as acting as Super User, Procurement support tools (Sievo, Per Angusta, Bonsai, DUNs, Ecovadis, Dashboards, etcetera)
- Support Group Category Managers and Operational Companies (OpCo’s) with, but not limited to, analytical capabilities for developing initiatives to increase bottom line performance, adjusted gross margin, execute fact-based negotiations
- Align purchasing tools and analytics development with business
- Progress tracking and savings / benefits monitoring of projects and programs
- Run on behalf of the Group Category Managers and Operational Companies small procurement and sourcing projects
- Manage the ESG agenda
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
The tasks performed by this position consist of – but are not limited to – the following:
- Set up spend analytical reports and dashboards according to requirements of individual platforms/OpCo’s
- Facilitate analysis of historical spend, contracts and bonusses and help identify opportunities to achieve cost reductions
- Spend time in the business for focused support and to get to know products
- Build strong and effective relationships with internal customers (OpCo procurement and central team)
- Work alongside OpCo’s and OpCo procurement teams to deliver business benefit
- Data collection and analysis:
- Provide analytical rigor and data extraction expertise to the business
- Collect, cleanse, enrich and validate data from a variety of data sources, countries and platforms
- Visualise analysed complex data sets to create useful information to support fact-based negotiations
- Develop standard reports and tools to evaluate the current performance (sales, % of sales, gross margin, net profitability, spend data, et cetera) of categories, products, suppliers, private labels and brands.
- Create and deliver presentations of findings, prepare negotiations, support assortment optimisation for internal teams
- Develop recommendations, put into context analytical findings and quantify their impact for business stakeholders
- Train local staff in use and interpretation of analysis, reports and tools
- In collaboration with a Category Manager responsible for carrying out Procurement/Sourcing projects
- Manage the ESG agenda
- Processes:
- Support category teams in setting up transparent business cases for improvement
- Provide data improvement and performance measures
- Communicate effectively with team members to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
- Program/project support:
- Ensuring that project plans, business requirements and functional specifications are created, managed and tracked for projects
- Execute progress tracking and savings/benefits monitoring of procurement excellence initiatives

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Master preferred)
- Minimum of five years relevant working experience
- Highly proficient in with MS Excel including VBA, reference formulae and PivotTables, and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of SQL and other querying tools such as Oracle, MS Access, and others
- Proven analytical skills, including statistics tools to structure, develop and interpret models
- Fluent (both in verbal and writing) in English and German
- Verbal knowledge of Dutch, Spanish and/or French a strong plus
Location
Based in Schiphol-Oost, the Netherlands with the willingness to travel 20% throughout Europe. This position can also be based in Dortmund, Germany.
