We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Manager Indirect Procurement to be based in our Global Headquarters in Amsterdam.

To continue to change the lives of our 235 million customers we’re building a world-class, Global Procurement team to execute the VEON business transformation strategy and enable the right alignment and improved commercial relationships with our third party suppliers.

There is now an opportunity in the team for an experienced Senior Manager Indirect Procurement to join the team who wants to be part of something big and transformative and someone who will play a pivotal role in driving our success. 

The main priority of the Procurement team isto manage our supplier base which links into providing services for our customers whilst bringing financial benefits to our operating companies and HQ, providing the latest, high quality solutions to our stakeholders and supporting best in class customer delivery.

From HQ we set the global procurement governance and manage global strategic sourcing processes and contracts across our global footprint and we are the engine room that allows us to deliver, not only our telecommunications services, globally, but our digital platforms, VEON and other services.

Your role will be to effectively lead indirect procurement activities that align with Veon’s internal customer needs and to be instrumental in driving collaborative spend management from developing unique supplier engagement strategies. Of course, there will be a significant commercial focus, however, you will also be required to deliver both global framework agreements and local agreements seamlessly across the Group, from the point of requirements gathering and sourcing, through to delivery and finalisation of commercial benefits.

Your prior experience as an Indirect Procurement Manager, in Professional Services, will drive VEON’s procurement and third party engagement strategy ahead, enabling us to deliver even better services to our customers, globally.

Internal working relationships…
The internal customers of our team, who are critical to our success, are broad and include functional owners and managers in HQ and in our Operating Companies including, Legal, Finance, HR, Vendor Performance and Governance and our Global Shared Services Centre. Additionally, our relationships stretch across the procurement and contracts team to external firms, potential partners and vendors.
In the natural world where real collaboration is achieved with your customers, you will develop and follow sound sourcing processes and will influence efficiency to all the activities you undertake, delivering first class outcomes with sustainable, long term benefits.

The team…
During the past 12 months the Procurement Team has been focused on building a market leading function.
The team you will join is high achieving and is constantly developing and has achieved significant commercial and operational benefits to the organisation. You will report into the Director Global Category Professional Services.
Your colleagues are collaborative, willing, supportive and experts with global experience in each of their respective fields of procurement and your team of five (or more) procurement managers are eager to learn from you and build on their expertise.

A bit about you…
You’re able to naturally apply thought leadership in the categories that you manage and can provide strong people management skills in all areas of knowledge and forums. You are technically competent in every aspect of the sourcing and contracting process and have no trouble in translating the customer’s needs into the necessary procurement discipline required.
You have previously led indirect procurement activities across multiple jurisdictions encompassing the usual subjects you would find as an Indirect leader including Legal, HR, Consulting, Insurance etc
You identify new areas or emerging issues for which new strategies or policies need developing to protect business and legal interests and you spot risks before they materialise.
You have worked on large outsourcing, shared services and strategic partnership deals and been involved in transformation projects and the creation of strategic sourcing policies.

A bit about you…

  • You have previously led indirect procurement activities across multiple jurisdictions including legal, HR and insurance spend and other categories in professional services with a spend circa €100mn per annum
  • You have managed the entire sourcing process, participated in the selection of suppliers in collaboration with functional owners and created supplier panels including designing the strategies for these and executing them
  • You have worked on large outsourcing, shared services and strategic partnership deals and been involved in transformation projects and the creation of strategic sourcing policies.
  • You have effective commercial contract and negotiation skills and in the past you have negotiated indirect procurement deals at a group level
  • You identify new areas or emerging issues for which new strategies or policies need developing to protect business and legal interests and you spot risks before they materialise.

  • A strategic thinker mind set which will heighten your awareness of how your contribution supports VEON’s overall transformation objectives.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem solving and determination to overcome complex issues related to supplier management
  • An innate bias towards collaboration and the business smarts to know when and how to intervene to protect VEON.
