Job purpose

  • Responsible for building and managing relationships with vendors who supply IT and Delivery services to Liberty Global, ensuring those vendors meet or exceed their contractual obligations and key partner performance metrics.
  • To support the Director Commercial Management with the day to day management of the Commercial Management team.
  • To manage all contractual & commercial aspects of all contracts, working closely with Demand & Delivery Management, IT Governance & Planning, Finance, Partner Service Management & Procurement.
  • To provide clear contract leadership as part of contract governance and also work closely with procurement & legal teams on any commercial disputes & resolution.
  • To drive contractual compliance and look to leverage opportunity across the contract term as the business evolves and delivery in-life becomes BAU.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with internal stakeholders to support their partner engagement requirements and advise them based on LG sourcing strategy.
  • Build strong relationships with internal subject matter experts to support contract management.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers using developed and agreed criteria to support alignment and understanding of the expectations and requirements of engagement.
  • Control cost, drive service excellence, and mitigate risks to gain increased value from vendors.
  • Support the contract governance schedule by representing Liberty Global at specific meetings.
  • Own and manage all aspects of any contract dispute and resolution process. Ensure relevant stakeholders are engaged as part of this process.
  • Support the development of key relationships across the contract term. Ensure Liberty Global goals, values and behaviours are communicated to the partners and that the partner management team is engaged and aware of their responsibilities in supporting these goals, values & behaviours.
  • Consistently drive a process with the Partners that leverages their scale and capability to extract greater value out of the relationship on behalf of Liberty Global.
  • Work with procurement partners to review and revise contractual agreements as necessary.
  • Manage outward communication to vendors to facilitate understanding and awareness of organizational strategic direction, changes and challenges.
  • Support internal operational leads in the management of partner engagements.
  • Own and manage the view of the vendor landscape and associated contracts to inform appropriate and timely engagement in the contract management lifecycle.
  • Ensure that vendors follow applicable LG governance and where this is not followed, appropriate action is taken.
  • Provide input for all forecasting processes with regard to internal and external partners

Knowledge & Experience

Preferred education/ qualifications:

  • Degree level or equivalent in management disciplines
  • Minimum alternate industry experience of 7 years in large carrier Telco or Cable provider with International presence across Europe.

Specific Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of IT vendor management in a carrier scale telecommunications/equivalent environment.
  • Strong vendor management experience. Expertise in driving operational efficiencies through innovative partner and vendor management
  • Experience of analysing, assessing and resolving complex technology requirements, problems and issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to form strong business relationships across multiple locations
  • Strong record of people management in a technical environment, including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Timeliness in all actions with quality consciousness towards services received and provided
  • Experience of project management techniques including planning, resource allocation, prioritization and escalation
  • Demonstrate strong influencing and persuading skills, encourage colleagues and teams to change established processes and achieve improvements and best practice
  • Understands, explains and presents complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels up to the highest in a persuasive and convincing manner. Has a broad and deep IT knowledge coupled with equivalent knowledge of the activities of the business
  • The ability of an individual to convey a level of confidence and professionalism, positively influencing and persuading others to take a specific course of action when there is no direct line of command or control.
  • Inspires others to follow the same high standards.
  • Ability to research, evaluate and select from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting operational, IT and business strategic needs.
  • Ability to manage multi-project management accountabilities in developing and architecting solutions in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to form strong business relationships across multiple locations
  • An excellent communicator across a wide range of audiences, including MD and CEO level, with the ability to present complex information in a user-friendly manner.
